Today it started with fog, and a downpour, so strong that my cheap umbrella was soaked. The streets and sidewalks were full of deep puddles, leaving me to jump from one small dry spot to another. Numerous cars drove too fast , throwing water onto the sidewalk from curb to the edge. A few puddles covered deep holes.
With all the rain that Mostar receives, the lack of stormwater drainage is noteworthy. water collects everywhere.
Then, in the mid afternoon, the clouds broke up, and the wind started. Sitting on the third floor of the university building, I could see the clouds drift away, and the tops of trees, bending at nearly a 45 degree angle.
And the walk home was a beautiful blue sky, cool wind, and no puddles.
