Roughly two weeks after I return to the states, I am scheduled to teach classes at my home institution. I am trying to imagine it. After 6 months seeing bombed out buildings, graffiti marked buildings, garbage bins overflowing with uncollected garbage, Roma children begging barefoot in the rain, stray cats rummaging through garbage, and numerous wild rides through the mountains, I am imagining it will be a transition marked by endless comparisons of need, want, and opportunity between the two countries. Between wealth and poverty.
And how do you make this transition in such a short time?
