An update. I am now living and working outside Queretaro, Mexico. The small colonies here are a mix of 1900 and 2018. Cowboys on horseback ride down the road while checking twitter on their phones. Sugar cane is hacked off in heights taller than the children buying it. Cows pasture next to highways. And WalMart appears to be the place to go for consumer goods. Fruits and vegetables are best purchased at local stands.
