This began as an informal blog about my experiences as a Fulbright Scholar in Mostar, BiH from 2013-2014. This blog has no formal connection to the Fulbright Program or its associated programs. Opinions expressed are my personal views.
When I started this blog, I was a professor from Northern Virginia Community College, teaching film and theater. In BiH, I taught American Studies at the University of Mostar, the only Croatian language university in BiH. I have taught English and art history at Arkansas State University-Queretaro, and currently serve as dean of Humanities at Tarrant County College in Texas.

I’ve just found your blog and am enjoying seeing this country through your eyes. I do have one question, what is BiH? I’m sure I just missed it somewhere but since it seems such a big part of your correspondence I wanted to understand.
I live in Amarillo Texas and have been wanting to visit Croatia since reading a wonderful book about it last year.

BiH stands for Bosnia and Herzegovnia, or the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. B= Bosnia. i= and ( in local language) and H= Herzegovnia. Beats writing out the whole name!
I mean Herzegovina ….see…BiH is harder to misspell
The history of these the two areas is complex, and Mostar bears witness to this complex history between the Herzegovinas, and Bosniaks.
